We’ve been envisioning turning a property into a vacation rental for years, and we’re thrilled to finally make it happen. We just purchased this charming one-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin nested in a picturesque spot near the entrance of Smoky Mountain National Park in Sevierville, Tennessee, which is a dream come true. The potential of this location is undeniable. Our plans for this little gem are grand; you won’t recognize her when she’s done. We’re excited to take you on this transformation journey, so stay tuned for the updates and be part of the excitement.
A quick tour of the cabin
As you enter the cabin, you’re greeted by the kitchen area. While showing some signs of wear in these photos, the kitchen is a blank canvas ready for a new life. To the right of the entrance is a washer and dryer, which may or may not stay in this location. Next to that is a charming spiral staircase. Yes, the stairs are a bit low, which could be a hazard, but they add a unique charm and quirkiness to this cabin that’s starting to grow on me.
The spiral staircase leads up to a loft space full of potential. Currently, it’s a game area with a Packman game and a small pool table. The space is too small to play pool without damaging the walls, so unfortunately, the pool table will have to go. However, the nostalgia of playing Packman growing up might save the game console. We’re still brainstorming about the future potential of this loft area. We plan to launch this vacation rental as a romantic getaway for two; we’re open to your imaginative ideas on how to transform this space.
The loft overlooks the family room, which features a double-sided fireplace and vaulted ceilings that initially attracted us to this cabin. The family room has large windows and a door leading out to the deck.
The primary bedroom is right off the family room and features beautiful vaulted ceilings and a fireplace on the other side. It also has a door leading out to the deck. And yes, you’re not mistaken—there is a bathtub in the corner of the bedroom. Although a bathtub in the bedroom may have been the height of luxury in the 1980s, it will have to go. The bedroom is the darkest room in the cabin, so we will need to add some windows here.
There’s a bathroom with a shower adjacent to the main bedroom. Notice the cheetah wallpaper border at the top of the wall? I am not sure how we’ll incorporate that into our design.
Last on our tour of this cute little cabin is the back deck with a hot tub.
Stay tuned for the transformation journey!
