Ever look around your home and just crave a little…change? You know the feeling—I sure do. It’s that nagging notion that you’ve been staring at your outdated fireplace and doors for too long. They’re showing their age, stuck in a design era that just doesn’t jive with your modern style anymore. So, what are you to do when your beloved abode screams, “It’s time for a makeover!”? Well, let me tell you, my friend, the answer lies in embracing contemporary designs—clean lines, minimalistic aesthetics, and functionality.
“Don’t be afraid to tear down the old to usher in the new. Because style is not about sticking to the status quo, it’s about creating a space that sings harmoniously with your soul.”
We finished the basement during the height of the “slap some pallet boards on the wall and call it awesome” design phase (Remember that? People were paying good money for used pallets in the name of design, ouch). And while our pallet board fireplace was more modern than most pallet board designs, it still felt too rustic for the overall contemporary feel of our home.
Fireplace Facelift
New contemporary fireplace
Old dated fireplace
We removed the old pallet-wood-looking boards, replaced them with sleek, modern, vertical paneling, and painted everything Sherwin Williams Iron Ore.
We’re pretty happy with the result and think you’ll agree the new fireplace has a more contemporary aesthetic.
